Instructions
  1. Sift the dry ingredients together into a large mixing bowl.
  2. Cut the butter into the flour mixture using a pastry blender or the tines of a fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Stir in the remaining ingredients to form a soft dough, mixing as little as possible.
  4. Pat the dough into an 8-inch (20 cm) circle on an ungreased baking sheet.
  5. Cut into 8 wedges using a serrated knife.
  6. Bake in a preheated 400F (200C) oven for 18 to 20 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center of one of the scones comes out clean.
  7. Cool slightly before serving.
